Tour: Go beach
How to get there: by Train
Route: from Finland Railway Station
to Sestroretsk station
If you happened to be in St. Petersburg in the summer and somehow got tired of it you should not be sad. We have something like Brighton Beach in NYC here to the North-West where you can always get away.
Price from: 100 roubles
DetailsYou can spend your day on the beach and swim in the Gulf of Finland (falls into the Baltic Sea). There is a number of bars along the shore where you can eat, drink and spend the night dancing.
You should take the metro to get to the Finland Railway Station, hence the metro station name (Ploschad' Lenina, Line 1). You take the escalator up and to your left is the entrance. You get your ticket to Sestroretsk (Сестрорецк), about $2 per person.
Do not throw it away till the end of your trip. It takes about 50 minutes and train leaves nearly every hour in that direction. You will be seeing the gulf on your left along the way. You get off at Sestroretsk station and to your left you will see the way to the gulf. This is where the train takes you as close to the water as possible. You can get off few stops earlier or later.
Then you find yourself a little further off among blocks of flats so just ask anyone "Izvinite, gde zaliv?" (Excuse me, which way is the gulf?) and keep walking. Note last train to the city leaves at about 10 pm.
Another way to get there is as follows. You take the metro to Chernaya Rechka Station (Line 2). You get outside, cross the road in front of you and to your left you see a bus stop. You take bus number 211 or K425 or K417 (about $2 per person) and get off in about 40 minutes minus traffic jams. You get off at Razliv or see above. The bus leaves every 30 minutes from 6:58 to 0:40.
